Vocal Resilience Academy

The voice lives in the body. When we understand how the body moves, breathes, and responds, we begin to understand how the voice truly works.

The Vocal Resilience Academy was created for singers, teachers, and movement professionals who want to explore that connection in a real and embodied way. Together, we study how the nervous system, breath, and movement influence the airway, and how restoring balance allows the body to fully occupy itself rather than getting stuck in old holding patterns.

This work invites awareness of how we move through space, not just to one side or one pattern, but into the full capacity of the body. From that sense of presence and occupancy, the voice becomes more stable, expressive, and free.

This is not just about collecting techniques. It is about understanding how the body organizes for sound and how that awareness can transform the way you teach, sing, and move.

Next session begins January 4, 2026.

Why I created Vocal Resilience Academy

The Vocal Resilience Academy grew from my lifelong love of the voice and my belief that it cannot be separated from the body. My work has always centered on curiosity and discovery, on how movement, structure, and breath shape not just sound but expression, ease, and presence.

Over the years, I have also become increasingly aware of a gap in education. Many academic and training programs are still teaching material that is over a decade old. This is not a criticism. Curricula take time to shift, and meaningful change does not happen overnight. But our understanding of biomechanics, fascia, the nervous system, and the voice continues to evolve.

That evolution matters.

My own curiosity began after a major thoracic surgery when I was fifteen. Two surgeons reconstructed my chest during a six hour operation, and when I woke up, every breath felt like a miracle. Learning how to breathe again reshaped everything I understood about the body and how it supports the voice, and it is work I continue to return to every day. Since then, through years of working with singers, actors, teachers, and clinicians, I have seen that same truth reflected again and again. When the body finds balance, the voice finds freedom. And when the nervous system feels safe, expression becomes possible.

The Academy grew from that understanding and from a commitment to staying current. At The Visceral Voice Vocal Resilience Academy, we do not teach a static curriculum. The program is updated each time we run it so that the most current research, approaches, and clinical insights are included. We also invite guest presenters who are doing some of the most thoughtful and innovative work in their respective fields, keeping the learning alive, responsive, and grounded in real world practice.

This is a place for learning, exploration, and community. A place where the body and voice are studied together, and where those who love the voice can continue to learn rather than rely on outdated models.

My mission has always been to bring education, embodiment, and care together in service of the voice. The Academy allows me to share that work in a deeper way, helping others build awareness, confidence, and resilience from the inside out.

Vocal Resilience Academy Details

The Academy is organized into six 12-week modules, with new start dates every January, May and September. The program is designed to take you from the foundational structures of vocal support to advanced, professional-level application.

Building the Foundations (Modules 1-3) - Feel It

  • Module 1: Self-Massage and Nervous System Regulation (previously our 12-week Self -Care course)
Learn to release tension, improve proprioception, and regulate your nervous system through targeted self-massage techniques.

  • Module 2: Understanding Anatomy
Explore the bones, muscles, and connective tissues. Build your anatomical knowledge through guided practice.

  • Module 3: Positional Movement Drills (previously our Vocal Resilience course now newly restructured)
Train the body for efficient, full-range movement, developing strength, stability, and breath control that translates directly to vocal performance.

Note: The first three Modules are interchangeable, so you can begin with any one and move through them in any order. While we typically alternate experience-based and information-based content—based on what’s worked well for past participants—you’re welcome to mix and match in the way that best supports your learning.
